Faculty members who attend convocation exercises are encouraged to sit on the platform rather than the general theatre seating. Faculty who choose to sit on the platform must wear academic dress.

Faculty members may also invite one guest. Invited platform party guests and faculty that choose not to sit on stage will use the general guest seating.

Use the PayByPhone App

Download or login to the PayByPhone app, find the location number of the lot you are in (indicated in the lot) and pay with your smartphone. The location number for lot 15 and 20 is 4656. During convocation, the cost to park in lots 15 and 20 using the PayByPhone app is $6 for 4 hours.

Pay at the pay station

Pay stations or meters are located in each public lot and public space. Please avoid this option to help you make it to your ceremony on time. We recommend paying using the PayByPhone app.

If you choose to pay at a pay station during Convocation, the cost to park in lots 15 and 20 is $6 for 4 hours. The cost to pay in lots 1, 3, 4 and 5 is $3/hour, and the cost to pay in Stadium Parkade is $2.50/hour.

Convocation Shuttle for Faculty and Staff

Spring 2023 Convocation is June 5-9 and faculty and staff are invited to use the shuttle service that runs between the USask campus and Merlis Belsher Place at select times and locations. Look for green signs marking the pick-up locations.

The shuttle service will run continuously between 7:45 - 9 am, 11 am - noon, 12:45 - 2 pm, and 4 - 5 pm at the following stops:

• Merlis Belsher Place
• Administration Loop
• Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites
• Health Sciences – Dental Court Loop
• Education - East Entrance 
• Edwards 

Please allow for ample time when using a shuttle as the time on the transportation loop may be longer than anticipated.

Arrival

Faculty sitting on stage are asked to assemble in the Faculty Holding Room which is located in the Ron & Jane Graham Gymnasium at Merlis Belsher Place.  From the Holding Room, you will be escorted to the stage. Signs will be posted.

Faculty tickets will be digital. Tickets may be printed or can be shown at the door on a digital device.

Faculty who choose to sit on the platform are required to wear regalia. First Nation, Metis and Inuit faculty are invited to wear their traditional regalia over academic regalia or in place of it. We ask that faculty do not alter rented academic regalia (gown or hood) as it represents your academic achievement. Online rental pre-ordering will open in late April 2023. You can also rent a gown on site 1.5 hours prior to your ceremony. 

 

Be sure to obtain a gown and hood prior to the time of assembly. Gowns and hoods are available on a non-refundable rental basis. If you have questions please contact convocation@usask.ca

Academic dress must be returned at Merlis Belsher Place following the convocation ceremonies as they must be shipped back to the supplier.  

New PhD Gown
All faculty who currently own the original scarlet and blue gown are more than welcome to continue wearing this gown. If you choose to purchase a new gown, you may do so by using your APEF fund.
