USask educators are invited to join two weeks of active, practical sessions designed to jump-start your teaching before the academic year begins.

This year we are hosting both online and in-person offerings. We have more than 40 sessions lined up below, so whether you’re looking to refresh your course syllabus, redesign assessments, integrate Indigenization, get supports for academic integrity and copyright in your course, navigate large classes, or incorporate AI tools - there’s something for everyone. We’ll also cover topics like exploring teaching technologies and GenAI tools and how to support the USask Student Competencies.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape higher education, the way we design assessments must evolve. In this session, we’ll explore how to design or redesign assessments that align with our AI-enabled world in pedagogically sound ways.

In this hands-on session, participants will use USask’s AI Learning Design Assistant (ALDA) to begin redesigning an existing assessment. Grounded in the University’s Assessment Principles, the session offers structured time and support to align assessments with both pedagogical goals and AI realities. Participants will leave with a working draft or prototype of a redesigned task.

This session will introduce you to using one of USask’s AI tools: Microsoft Copilot. A licensed and protected version of Copilot is available to USask faculty, staff, and students. We’ll start with the basics, so even if you’ve never used AI before, this session is for you. By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:

  • Explain what Microsoft Copilot is, including its key uses and features.
  • Access and navigate the Copilot web interface.
  • Apply efficient prompting strategies and techniques to generate useful and relevant results with Copilot.

*Note: Although this session focuses on the USask-approved tool Copilot, many of the techniques, strategies, and considerations from this session apply broadly to other generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Meta AI, and Claude.
