Peter Hedley has over 15 years’ experience in both the public and private education environments in Europe and North America. Peter holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a graduate degree in Creative Writing. In addition to his extensive administrative experience, he has also taught Creative Writing, English Language, Study Skills and Communication.
From 2000, Peter worked as a language teacher in Europe for three years before moving into the Post-Secondary environment in 2003 with 6 years as a faculty member at two UK institutions, the University of Bedfordshire and Brunel University London. Peter spent eleven years in total working at London Brunel International College (Brunel University) in Middlesex, UK. Peter’s final role at LBIC was as Director of Academic and Student Services but he also acted as the College’s Director/Principal for one year. Following his move to Canada in 2014, Peter was responsible for the Student Affairs portfolio at Capilano University in British Columbia.
As a member of SESD’s senior leadership team, Peter provides overall leadership to the following Central Support Services – Student Wellness Centre, Access and Equity Services and Student Affairs and Outreach. Peter will also lead project activity related to campus welfare, diversity and wellness matters. He is excited by the opportunity to develop an approach which focuses diverse groups to collaborate in activities and initiatives to support and promote student and employee well-being and success.
